As temperatures increase and as flowers start to bloom, it’s the perfect time of the year to take a walk outside. Many Lexingtonians choose the Arboretum, located off of Alumni Drive, for their walks or runs.
The Walk at the Arboretum is a 2.0 mile paved path surrounded with a wide variety of trees. There’s also a path through the woods. Here’s a map of the walking trails.
On that brochure, the Arboretum provides a chart where walkers/runners can check their fitness level based on a 12-minute distance chart. The brochure also suggests a moderate fitness program:
– women: 2 miles under 30 minutes three times a week; 2 miles 30-40 minutes 5-6 times a week;
– men: 2 miles under 27 minutes three times a week; 2 miles 30-40 minutes 6-7 days a week.
