On January 4th through the 11th, Alternative Service Breaks, in conjunction with Outreach360, will be traveling to Jinotega, Nicaragua, focusing on youth education. Specifically, volunteers will be helping to teach English and provide opportunities to disadvantaged Nicaraguans.
ASB will also be hosting domestic trips to New Orleans, Washington, D.C. and David, Ky. International trips will be to Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and Ghana.
Nervous about volunteering? ASB holds informational meetings before every trip so volunteers can meet and learn about their destination and the issue at hand. Not only is this an opportunity to serve, but a chance to learn about local cultures. The Nicaraguan trip includes opportunities such as touring a coffee farm, an art co-op, a cloud forest and an eco-resort.
Apply at www.uksab.org/apply by September 27th. There is a nonrefundable $75 deposit for domestic trips and $150 deposit for international trips.
