According to the governor’s Commonwealth of Kentucky website, Governor Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff today, October 14th, 2010 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, First Lt. Todd W. Weaver, 26, of Hampton, Va., died September 9th in Kandahar, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the First Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, Second Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, KY. Funeral services for First Lt. Weaver will be held on October 14th at 3 p.m. Eastern time at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Governor Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day.
