Despite their 1-5 record to start the season, the UK football team will get a taste of primetime when they take on Mississippi State University at 7:30 p.m. tonight on ESPN.
The game in Starkville, Miss. will see the Cats matched against a difficult dual-threat quarterback, the Bulldogs’ Dak Prescott.
Don’t let his odd first name fool you. Prescott leads his team in passing and rushing yards, leading the entire SEC in the latter.
The 3-3 Bulldogs have lost both of their conference games however, with wins over Bowling Green University, Troy University and Alcorn State University.
UK head coach Mark Stoops said this week that sophomore quarterback Maxwell Smith would start, but fellow sophomore Jalen Whitlow would be ready if needed.
Whitlow has been out since he injured his ankle in the first quarter of the Cats’ loss to Alabama.
