Fans of the Zelda video game franchise rejoiced Wednesday afternoon when Nintendo announced that a remake of the Nintendo 64 classic, Majora’s Mask, will be coming to the 3DS sometime next spring.
Majora’s Mask was originally released in 2000 as a direct sequel to The Ocarina of Time (which was also remade for the 3DS back in 2011). However, Majora’s Mask was decidedly different from prior games in the Zelda franchise. Rather than taking players through a typical journey of defeating evil and saving the princess, as Zelda games were wont to do during this time, Majora’s Mask took a different path.
Majora’s Mask appealed to the emotions of the players during an era where many console games only aimed to entertain people for a few hours. In Majora’s Mask players are taken on a journey that’s more about self discovery and identity, than it is about anything else.
Whether you are a long time Zelda fan, or whether you’re looking for a game that will hit you right in the feels, be on the lookout next spring for Majora’s Mask on 3DS!
