Just 10 days ahead of the first Thursday Night Football game in Commonwealth Stadium, one of Auburn’s best offensive weapons, wide receiver Duke Williams, was kicked off the team.
Williams was involved in an off-the-field incident at a local nightclub this weekend. The incident broke his zero-tolerance agreement with head coach Guz Malzahn, according to Jay Tate of AuburnSports.com. Auburn was a preseason favorite to win the SEC and advance to the College Football Playoff, but has struggled to a 3-2 start.
Kentucky’s secondary would have struggled defending Williams. His size could have easily overpowered the smaller Cody Quinn, and his experience would have made freshman Chris Westry vulnerable to attacks.
A line has yet to be set, but UK could potentially be favored to defeat their first SEC West foe in the Mark Stoops era.
