LEXINGTON — Incumbent Sheriff Kathy Witt, who ran unopposed, posted the highest number of votes of any candidate in the county, garnering 66,456 votes of the approximately 90,000 cast in all Fayette County precincts.
Sheriff Witt defeated a challenger in the primary to take the unopposed slot on the Nov. 2 ballot.
