The College of Arts & Sciences will be making some updates to its Biology Department curriculum starting Fall 2011. Below are details of the changes:
Current course:
BIO 150, Introduction to Biology I: focuses on cellular and molecular sciences
New course:
BIO 148: will focus on biological diversity and origins
Current course:
BIO 152, Introduction to Biology II: plant and animal systems
New course:
BIO 152: will incorporate different organism types into its structure
Current course:
A&S 100, Biology Labs I & II
New course:
BIO 155: will teach students how to review and generate bibliographic and sequencing databases
Other changes will be made to upper division classes (including lab classes for cell biology, genetics and physiology), and B.S. degrees will now require a higher level calculus course.
Two new laboratories will be built on the first floor of the Multidisciplinary Science Building, as well as new ones constructed in the basement of the Thomas Hunt Morgan building.
