Tonight at 9:23 p.m. the Butler Bulldogs will face the UConn Huskies for the NCAA men’s college basketball championship in Houston, Texas. The game will air on CBS, channel 27 in Lexington. Insight customers will be able to find the game on channel 9.
Oddsmakers put Butler at a narrow 3-point favorite, but the betting thus far has given the edge to the Huskies. Both teams favor a tough, grinding style of play, with Butler averaging 67.2 ppg while Connecticut puts up 69 ppg.
Lexington’s Shelvin Mack will represent the state of Kentucky in the tournament final as a starting point-guard for Butler. Mack is a 2008 graduate of Bryan Station High School.
To reach the championship game, Butler defeated the Virginia Commonwealth Rams 72-60 on Saturday. The Connecticut Huskies eliminated the University of Kentucky Wildcats 56-55 in the semifinals.
