Love running? Love donuts? UK Habitat for Humanity has the race for you!
The second annual Krispie Kreme 5K Challenge will be held Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium at 10 a.m. The race will begin at North Gate 3 in the Commonwealth Stadium Green Lot.
According to the UK Habitat website, there will be two divisions of the race: “competitors,” who just run the 5K, and “challengers,” who both run the 5K and stop midway to scarf down a dozen donuts.
Online registration windows closed at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, but those still interested in competing may sign up between 8 and 9 a.m. on the morning of the event.
To race as a competitor, the cost is $21, and it’s $25 for challengers for day-of registration. Cash or check ONLY will be accepted at that time.
According to an April 8 Kentucky Kernel article, last year’s race included about 300 competitors and raised $10,000 for Lexington Habitat for Humanity.
