The final meeting has begun and by Monday the University of Kentucky community will meet the person its Board of Trustees has chosen to be its 12th president.
The opening of the meeting was announced on Twitter by UK spokesman Jay Blanton (@jonathanblanton), who tweeted: “UK board is meeting to pick 12th president,” just before 7 a.m.
According to a schedule released by the University, which has conducted the search in a hushed secrecy, the Board’s plan is to meet the preferred candidate(s) at the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky airport, conduct a meeting to vote on approval of a final candidate for presentation to the University at that meeting, make and announcement sometime over the weekend and introduce the candidate to the University community at a series of forums on Monday, May 2 on the Lexington campus.
For more information on the schedule of announcements and forums, some of which will be livestreamed by UKPR with an assist from Wildcat Student TV, go to UKNOW, the university’s online news channel.
Eleventh UK President Lee Todd announced his retirement earlier this year.
