In just 11 days, voters will battle it out in Kentucky’s primary, hoping to bring their favorite candidates on to November’s elections. Wondering what the ballot will look like? Here is a brief overview of the statewide candidates so you can be prepared on May 17th.
DEMOCRATIC BALLOT
Governor/Lt. Governor:
With no opposition, the Democratic gubernatorial slate will not appear on this year’s primary. Incumbent Steve Beshear along with former Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson will be the Democratic candidates on the ballot in November.
Attorney General:
Incumbent Jack Conway is running unopposed. This position will not appear on the primary ballot.
Secretary of State:
-Former Bowling Green Mayor and Incumbent Elaine Walker
-Lexington attorney Alison Lundergan Grimes
Treasurer:
-Incumbent Todd Hollenback
-Disciples of Christ Christian Church Pastor Steve Hamrick
Auditor:
Business management consultant Adam Edelen is running with no opposition so this position will not appear on the Democratic primary ballot.
Commissioner of Agriculture:
-Marketing executive and representative of the Farmers’ Almanac Robert “Bob” Farmer
-Anderson County Farm Bureau Federation Director Stewart Gritton
-Richmond lawyer John Lackey
-Former commissioner of the Commonwealth’s Department of Rural and Municipal Aid B.D. Wilson
REPUBLICAN BALLOT
Governor/Lt. Governor:
-Senate President David Williams with Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Richie Farmer
-Louisville businessman Phil Moffett with Representative Mike Harmon
-Jefferson County Clerk Barbara “Bobbie” Holsclaw with Bill Vermillion, Jr.
Attorney General:
Hopkins County Attorney Todd P’Pool is running unopposed. This position will not appear on the primary ballot.
Secretary of State:
-Western Kentucky businessman Bill Johnson
-Former Washington, DC. USDA Rural Utilities Service administrator Hilda Legg
Treasurer:
With no opposition against K.C. Crosbie, this position will not appear on the Republican primary ballot.
Auditor:
-Businessman John Kemper
-Representative Addia Wuchner
Commissioner of Agriculture:
-Representative James Comer
-Shelby County Judge Executive Rob Rothenburger
