The University of Kentucky Student News Network (SNN) is exactly what it sounds like, a news network. Broadcast and journalism majors join together to research all content as the professor of JOU 404 acts as the executive producer. When interviewing Emily Cedargren, journalism major, she stated, “News we produce (now) is just as good as the news we will produce as graduates.” The network also is allowed to pull from the CNN news wire, allowing the students to cover national and international news. The students have access to everything they need as professionals, such as green screens for weather, monitors and high-tech microphones. Those on or around the University of Kentucky can watch the SNN every Monday through Friday at 4 p.m. live on channel 16.
