Kentucky’s Attorney General, Jack Conway, will give a talk on Open and Transparent Government tonight at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of the W.T. Young Library.
The free talk, sponsored by the Scripps Howard First Amendment Center at the University of Kentucky, will be an opportunity for students, faculty and members of the public to hear the Commonwealth’s top attorney on the Open Meetings and Records law that is at the heart of Kentucky’s open government activities.
As attorney general, Conway, a Democrat, is responsible for upholding and issuing official rulings on the open records and meetings law.
He is a candidate for re-election in November. His opponent in the race, Republican Todd P’Pool, a county prosecutor from Madisonville, was invited to participate in tonight’s talk and had confirmed attendance but subsequently cancelled his appearance.
