Assumption 72, Calloway County 35: After ousting five-time state champion Sacred Heart from the region, Assumption continued its meteoric rise behind Ashlinn James’ 22 points and five rebounds. In its first trip to the state tournament since 2007, Assumption led the entire game. Se’Rae Bundrent-Palmer added 18 points for the Rockets, who outrebounded the Lakers 31-18 and got 18 second-chance points to just four for Calloway County. Sayler Lowe led the way for Calloway with 12 points.
